Característica de los lugares

Lake Roca:
Small lake of crystal-clear waters where specimens of various sizes (rainbow and lake trout) may be caught.

Its shores enable visitors to explore several spots in one fishing day. It stands within the Los Glaciares National Park, about 60 km from the City of El Calafate.

Rico River:
Mountain river ending in the lake bearing the same name. It is formed by meltdown waters. The color of its waters is much affected by meltdown and rain. The species caught there include rainbow trout and lake trout.
Its location: the mouth is situated within the national park and the entrance stands about 50 km from El Calafate. There are plenty of birds in this area.

Bote River:
This is a small river of clear waters emptying into the Santa Cruz River.
Its shape changes according to volume. Fishing is very interesting. Rainbow trout, Lake trout and perches are caught there. Steelheads are usually caught early in the season (November). Herds of guanacos and choiques (small rhea) may be appreciated here.
Its location: 45 km from El Calafate to the East. Its entrance lies in private property.

Lake Argentino:
Large lake bathing the coasts of the City of El Calafate. The ideal place for fishing is called Punta del Lago (End of the Lake). This is a large bay where rainbow trout and lake trout are caught. Its large shores are an invitation to explore. These waters have sediments called glacial milk, which give them a turquoise color.
Location: 60 km from El Calafate to the East.

Santa Cruz River:
This is the most important river in the province. It joins Lake Argentino with the Argentinian Sea along 383km. This river has a great volume. Rainbow trout, lake trout and perchs may be caught here. In certain times of the season, steelheads may also be caught. The turquoise color of its waters is the result of the same phenomenon occurring in Lake Argentino.
